It tells the story of Amelia, a Filipina from Ilocos who decides to work abroad to help her family. She takes care of a future crown prince – Ahmed, the Sheik’s son – rearing him, and in the process, introducing the young boy to the culture, values, and language of the Philippines.

More than a nanny, Amelia acts as Ahmeds surrogate mother and is even willing to offer her life to ensure his safety.

Her journey reveals, through words and music, the life that overseas Filipino workers live — their struggles to have a better life… their dreams, and the hope that someday their hard work will finally be rewarded.

Its been days since I came back as a princess owl. My body clock started to activate it early bird symptoms  and regardless of what time I go to bed, I keep waking up at 3am automatic – even without alarm clock. Something new after my birthday hehe!

Pan-de-sal. Bread and salt. Famous Filipino breakfast.

My father is now addicted with Pan de Manila’s hot pandesal (ads not paid). This is his daily “pasalubong” every after work and I can’t resist it. Talaga naman masarap eh. Specially if you match this with coffee (and now I sounded like super lola sa probinsha).

Thank God for a wonderful life! Thank you for giving me everything… thank you for the good life. Please continue all those uncountable blessings. Birthday wish? I have 2 wishes on my 28th birthday. First (is for myself), to eat quarter pounder meal on my birthday! Hahahaha! Second wish (not for me). This may sound so cheesy but true. I pray to have a peaceful and harmonious election come May. I’m looking forward to this automation election though some are worried, this is a blessing. A sign that my country continuously developing… God bless the Philippines!

I’ll be celebrating my 28th wonderful life in a couple of hours and because of that, there’s a royal rule. The Princess should paint her nails on her 28th birthday as she matches her nails to her wall  to get everything she wants all year round!

Rich Dad, Poor Dad is one of my favorite story. I’ll try to re-read this again. Might get the other side of the story. (or Baka nag bago na ang ending hehehe!)

Seafoods for Holy Week

Its a sunny Palm Sunday yesterday. So hot like I want to dunk my body in a chilling pool.

I was able to attend last mass in Christ The King Parish in Green Meadows last night. Afterwards, we had dinner with Joel, Ate Joy and Kuya Lonie in Bacolod Chicken Inasal. Since Holy week starts (yeah I know its Ash Wednesday Lent officially starts) we tend not to grab some meaty one (at first) so we had sisig rice, molo soup (1 point – meat inside molo), chicken inasal, baked “tahong” mussels and additional pork sisig (delicious but FAIL for not eating meat at all).

Baked Tahong Ingredients:

Estimated preparation and cooking time: 40 minutes

• 1 kilo fresh large tahong (mussels)
• 1/2 cup butter or margarine
• 5 cloves garlic, minced
• 1/2 cup grated cheese
• 1/2 cup bread crumbs

Instructions:

1. Place tahong(mussels) on a pan (no water), cover and cook over moderate heat.
2. When shells open up, drain.
3. Remove top shell.
4. Melt butter, add minced garlic.
5. Stir for 3 minutes.
6. Brush each “tahong” meat with butter-garlic mixture, top with grated cheese and cover with bread crumbs.
7. Arrange “tahong” (mussels) on a baking sheet.
8. Bake in pre-heated oven with a low heat (250F).
9. Bake for 10 – 15 minutes
